Why AI readiness matters now

Search is splitting in two. Alongside Google, a growing share of people ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Google’s AI Overviews to recommend a product, compare options or answer a question — and those answer engines can only surface a site they can crawl, parse and trust. If GPTBot or PerplexityBot can’t read your homepage, you simply aren’t in the running.

AI readiness is different from classic SEO. Answer-engine crawlers usually don’t run JavaScript, so a client-rendered page can look empty to them even when it looks fine in a browser. They lean on llms.txt, valid structured data, a clean heading outline and clear author/organization provenance to decide what a page is about and whether to cite it. This tool checks all of that in seconds — then the full audit extends it across your whole site with Core Web Vitals and a ranked fix list.

Questions, answered

What is AI readiness?+

AI readiness measures whether AI answer engines — ChatGPT search, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews — can crawl, parse and cite your site. It spans three things: access (can their crawlers fetch you at all), comprehension (can they parse the content without running JavaScript), and trust (can they attribute and date it).

Is this the same as a Lighthouse or PageSpeed score?+

No. Those measure performance — how fast the page loads. This checks whether search and AI crawlers can actually read and cite your content: llms.txt, AI bot policies, structured data, server-rendered content and semantic HTML. A fast page can still be invisible to ChatGPT.

Do I need an llms.txt file?+

It is not required, but it helps. llms.txt is an emerging standard — a short markdown file at your site root that hands AI agents a clean map of your most important pages. Sites with a good one are easier for answer engines to index and quote. You can generate a starter file free from our llms.txt generator.

Is it really free?+

Yes — the instant homepage check and the full AvocadoScore audit (up to 10 pages, Core Web Vitals, a ranked fix list) are both free, no signup, every fix unlocked.
